Driving Execution Focus: Strategy Deployment, Cascade and Performance Measurement at VKL Spices

This project leveraged our ability to align and connect strategy to people in a business context where most operating managers had to adapt to fast paced growth and results

VKL Spices is the flagship company of Kanji Morarji Group (Mumbai), a USD 250 Million entity. Established as early as 1935, they have evolved from whole-spice traders to one of India’s largest Seasoning and Flavour brands.

As part of their business strategy, VKL had laid out an ambitious plan for growth in the Tastes business. They were backed by India Value Fund Advisors through a significant capital infusion. These growth plans, specific to business segments have been laid out around their 4 verticals.

The organisation recognized the importance of a robust Performance Management framework required to drive these growth plans.

We at Aventus Partners, partnered with the organisation over the course of 2 years to ensure alignment of all executive level employees to these growth plans through:

─ Identification of Growth Drivers for each business

─ Defining the role of all Functions in driving this growth

─ Definition of Key Result Areas (Objectives) and Key Performance Indicators (Measures) for all Businesses and Functions

─ Converting these Objectives and Measures into score cards based on the Balanced Score Card framework

─ Identification of all Unique Roles in the organisation

─ Defining the roles and responsibilities of all Unique Roles (60 nos.) around 4 responsibility clusters namely, Financial, Customer, Process and People

─ Cascading the Key Result Areas (Objectives) and Key Performance Indicators (Measures) to every Unique Role in the organization

─ Facilitating the process of target setting for all Functions and Businesses
